Immigrant Rights Groups Release Scorecard On Congressional Votes to Deport Immigrant Youth
NEW VIDEO highlights who stands against Dreamers, immigrant families, and reform
WASHINGTON, DC – In the lead up to the three year anniversary of President Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program next week, the Alliance for Citizenship released the first in a series of scorecards on Congress’ votes this year on immigration. Today’s scorecard highlights Congress’ votes to end the successful program that has protected ‘Dreamers’ from deportations and allowed nearly 700,000 immigrant youth to attend college and work legally in the United States.
“DACA has resulted in nearly 700,000 immigrant youth success stories, yet members in this House and Senate have voted three and four times to deport them,” said Lia Parada, the Director of Legislation & Policy at the Alliance for Citizenship. “This Republican-led Congress’ only agenda on immigration is to deport Dreamers and their families. America needs a permanent fix and the Republicans can’t make it happen.”
The votes in today’s scorecard are among the series of immigration votes highlighted in another Alliance for Citizenship report, 2015 GOP Mass Deportation Agenda, released earlier this spring.
A new video about the Republican attacks on immigration reform and DACA is also getting released with the scorecard today.
