Community Workshop on Exec. Action in Little Village

Community Workshop on Exec. Action in Little Village

On Monday, March 23, Rep. Luis V. Gutiérrez (D-IL) will host a workshop and orientation session to educate people about the President’s executive actions on immigration.  It will include both an update on where things stand in terms of court cases and legislation, and preparation for signing up for deferred action when the window for applications opens after the court case is resolved.

Trained “Family Defenders” will be on hand to assist those who may qualify for expanded DACA, the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals deportation deferral program, for renewals of the current DACA program (started in 2012), and those preparing for the program for parents of U.S. citizens and permanent residents, known as DAPA.

This is a continuation of a project to educate immigrants in Chicago and nationally about the new presidential initiative and equip them with information that can help protect themselves and their families from deportation.  The Congressman has been traveling extensively holding workshops on immigration action (including three events in California on March 20 and 21).  This is his only scheduled public event this month in Chicago.
